In the beginner's milk paint class we will focus on the following:
- Learn how to do small repairs, how to properly clean, and to prepare a piece of vintage furniture for paint application.
- Learn how to use each of our products properly and when to use them. This includes how to properly mix our paint (“A great finish starts with a great mix!”), How to use the bonding agent and when it’s necessary to use this product, how to use our wax puck
- Learn about our finishes and how to choose which one is right for your project. These are our hemp oil, Antiquing, White and Furniture Waxes and our Tung Oil.
- Learn how to achieve various popular finishes, including our modern, smooth finish, a distressed, two color finish and how to achieve Miss Mustard Seed’s signature primitive, “chippy” finish.
- Learn the importance of drying and curing times when using our products and how this will affect your end result.
- Add interest to your piece by learning how to successfully apply a two color distressed finish, a color wash and how to crackle our paint and how to antique or lime your piece for a unique, custom finish.
- Learn the basics of the various “resist” techniques to create an authentically aged, “chippy” look.
- And finally, learn how to protect and seal your piece properly by using one of our three different waxes or hemp oil. These finishes not only allow you to achieve some of the most popular looks of our day but will provide a protected and lasting finish that will withstand normal, everyday use.
