About

Echoes of Charlotte

Hi there!  My name is Jacquie and I am the owner of Echoes of Charlotte, an Antique and Vintage Collectibles business in Annapolis, Maryland that is named after my grandmother, Charlotte. I've always loved this photograph of my grandmother that hung on the kitchen wall in our home for as long as I can remember.  I just knew I had to incorporate it somehow in my logo and branding.  My husband, John agreed and came up with the name for my business......Echoes Of Charlotte.

A former real estate agent and antiques dealer, I opened an online vintage shop using Etsy in 2008 when the real estate market crashed and I began to suffer from health issues due to Celiac disease and Lupus, that went undiagnosed for most of my life.  Previously to opening my online store, I ran a brick and mortar shop that I was forced to close due to my health problems.  I knew I wanted to have a vintage shop again and continue doing what I am most passionate about - furniture restoration and dealing antiques and vintage collectibles. I absolutely love refinishing furniture and rescuing items destined for the junkyard. There is so much satisfaction in making them come alive again. Etsy was the perfect venue to restart and revive my business while allowing me to do it slowly as my health afforded.

After finding success online from 2008 - 2012, I re-opened my brick and mortar store in Annapolis the summer of 2012. My days are again all consumed by antiques and vintage collectibles. The summer of 2013, I expanded by adding a fantastic new furniture paint line to my business - Miss Mustard's Seed Milk Paint and Products. It has been extremely rewarding teaching and empowering others to rescue and transform furniture.

As well as these passions, my faith and my family are very important to me. I'm a wife and mom to five - 3 biological children and 2 stepchildren, all between the ages of 29 and 17. I am now a mother-in-law to one and a grandmother of one who will turn four in October.  We live in Annapolis, Maryland, a beautiful and historical little port town nestled on the Chesapeake Bay. When I have time, I also enjoy gardening, crafting and reading.  I start every day by spending time in God's word and thanking Him for all the amazing blessings He has bestowed on me and my family as well as the wonderful opportunities He is now giving me.

My business logo and Etsy avatar (the picture of my paternal grandmother, Charlotte)  is what most people want to know about.  The picture was taken when she was age 19.  I'm not sure what the occasion was, but she is wearing some sort of costume. This is the same photograph that hung on our wall for more than 35 years. As a child, she was a mystery to me even though she lived with us until she died in 1983. A very private person, she never talked much about herself but since researching my family genealogy a couple of years ago, I've learned a great deal more about her and I feel much more deeply connected to her now. When I think of my shop, I think of her. She is my brand now - the face and the name - Echoes Of Charlotte.
